James H. Adlof was born in Sherman, Texas the son of Herman Hugo and
Ruby L. "Jackson" Adlof. He was one of five siblings. He attended St. Joseph Academy and graduated from Sherman High School. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps. On
October 10, 1947, he married Mary J. Petty in Sherman, a marriage that
lasted 48 years until his passing. The couple was blessed with six
children. He was employed by the U.S. Post Office and retired after 35 years of service. He
studied for five years before being ordained as a Deacon in the
Catholic Church and served in this capacity at St. Mary's Catholic
Parish in Sherman, Texas. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, an
active member in Sherman Assistance Ministry, and a Legislative
Representative for Post Office Clerks of Texas for several years. He
was survived by his loving wife Mary; four sons, Bobby G. Adlof of
Texarkana, James E. Adlof of Bells, J. Kent Adlof of Plano and J. Kevin
Adlof of Sherman; two daughters, Pamela Lewis of Pilot Point and C.
Dawn Laxson of Sherman; brother Bobby C. Adlof of Princeton and David
P. Adlof of Waxahachie; sisters, Margaret Buchanan of San Antonio and
Velma Adlof of Sherman, all in Texas; and 15 grandchildren. Rosary
was recited at Dannel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Reverend Jeremy Myers
officiating. Pallbearers were the 4th Degree members of the Knights of Columbus. |
| Bobby was born in Sherman, Texas the son of James & Mary Adlof. He died in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus at St. Edwards Catholic Church, Texarkana, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Treva Mary Adlof. Survivors
include his daughters, Suzanne Adlof Lewis and her husband, Tad of
Lawrence, Kansas and Lauren Adlof Moore and her husband, Daylon of
Texarkana; son, Eric Adlof of Dallas; mother, Mary Adlof of Sherman;
brothers, Jim Adlof of Bells, Texas, Kent Adlof of Frisco, Texas and
Kevin Adlof of Sherman; sisters, Pam Lewis of Pilot Point, Texas and
Dawn Laxson of Sherman; and a number of nieces and nephews. Rosary was held at East Funeral Home - Downtown, Texarkana. Mass
of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Edwards Catholic Church with
Father Lawrence Chellaian and Deacon Joe Bruick officiating. Reverend Antonio Aureus, Saint Mary's Catholic Parish, Sherman, officiated at the burial site. | |
Treva Mary Dahl

Treva was born in
Raton, New Mexico, the daughter of Edvel Frederick and Mary Yob Dahl. Formerly
from Sherman, Texas, she passed away at her residence in Texarkana,
Texas. She married Bobby Adlof on 17 June 1977. At the time of
her death she was the manager of Sears in Texarkana, and had formerly managed
the Sears Sherman store. She was a
member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Texarkana where she was a Youth
Minister and Sunday School teacher. She is survived by her husband, Bobby
Adlof of the home; two daughters, Suzanne and Lauren Adlof of Texarkana; and a
son, Eric Adlof of Texarkana. She is also survived by her parents of Raton; two
sisters, Karen Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Geraldine Gooden of
Amarillo, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other
relatives. Rosary was recited at East Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in
Texarkana. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St Edwards with Rev. Greg
Luyet officiating. A memorial service was held in Sherman at St. Mary's Catholic Church
with the pastor, Rev. Jeremy Myers officiating. |
