Joy
Beatrice Cole Jaska
Joy was born on 6 August
1926, to John F. Cole and Bernice Miller Cole in Sherman, Texas. She died
on 26 May 2012 in Sherman.
She graduated from
Sherman High School in the Class of '43 and has kept close contact with her
classmates throughout the years, and attended the "War Years" luncheons when she
could. As a teenager, she worked for Kress' Department Store in downtown Sherman
and then for Texas Power and Light in Sherman until she married Robert C. "Bob"
Jaska on July 23, 1960. They lived and raised three children in Bryan, Texas,
until Bob's retirement from Texas A&M in 1980 when they moved back to the
Sherman area between Luella and Tom Bean. While living in Bryan, she worked for
the MHMR Center and was the Business Manager at Allen Military Academy.
Joy was a special person who loved her family and friends. She had an active
mind and enjoyed reading books, working crossword puzzles and crypto-quotes,
playing Taroky, backgammon and other games, and most of all celebrating
birthdays with her family. She kept in touch with her many family members and
friends through email on her computer. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt,
cousin, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
her husband Bob and daughter Sharon Kay Jaska.
Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, Joy is survived by her two
sons: Robert Jaska, Jr. and wife Kelley of Van Alstyne, Texas and Joe Jaska and
wife Amy of Sherman; nine grandchildren: Robert "Trey" Jaska of Sherman; Jay
Jaska, Jordan Jaska, Jenna Jaska and Jessica Jaska, all of Sherman; Russell
