James E. Jacobs 29 March 1931 - 15 December 2014 Carmen J. Jacobs 30 May 1936 - 5 April 2000 Jim was born in Celeste, Texas to
Roland and Mary (Knox) Jacobs. Jim died in Sherman, Texas, surrounded by his
loving family. Jim grew up in the Celeste area and entered into the United States Navy after high school at the youthful age of 17. His time spanned over 20 years from 1948 till his retirement in September of 1969. During his time in the Navy, he married the love of his life, Carmen Baca on November 20, 1954 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They were married over 46 years until her passing on April 5, 2000. After Jim's military retirement, the family moved back to Texas and lived in Leonard and Luella. He started a second career which began at the Sherman Post Office until his retirement in April of 1988. He was very much loved by everyone on his postal routes and made many great friends. He and Carmen were very involved at St. Mary's Catholic Church,Sherman and were associated with CCD and taught Marriage Encounter. Jim enjoyed his job at maintaining the church property, being the "gopher" and an usher till 2000. He loved being outdoors, camping, going to the ocean, and dancing. Jim also sang with a barber shop quartet in the '70s and with the church choir. His love for his family was immeasurable and the time he spent with each of them. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter, Elizabeth Jacobs in 1958; and two brothers, Bob and Charles Jacobs. He is survived by his son, Peter Jacobs and his wife, Kate of Sherman, daughters, Cynthia Travis and her husband, Troy of Gainesville, Texas, and Pam Jacobs of Sherman; grandchildren, Michael Mourot and his wife, Nikki of Abilene, Texas, Monica Ayotte and her husband, Dan of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jade Runnels of Denison, Texas, Caylin Runnels of Denton, Texas, Marshall McManigell of Denison, Mishay McManigell of Sherman, Chase Travis of Carrollton, Texas, Clayton Travis of Austin, Texas, and Coogan Foster of Sherman; great-grandchildren, Haley, Ty, Brylee, Parker, Asher, Kai, Bryson, Maddox, Keeng, and Kayne; brother, Roland Jacobs Jr. and his wife, Paula; sisters, Sara Renfro and Bettie Davidson; sister-in-law, Jean Jacobs; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Rosary was recited by Deacon Albert Miller at Waldo Funeral Home chapel. Graveside services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with Father Antonio Aureus officiating and a Navy Honor Guard.
