The following is
paraphrased from the obituary that appeared on Page A6, of the Herald Democrat,
dated July 9, 2007. Bill was born in Calera, Oklahoma to the late
Nicholas and Lena (Rasheuber) Arend. He died in Sherman, Texas. He was 81 years
old. He graduated from Lindsay High School and attended Midwestern
University for two years. After serving in the U.S. Army, he married Miss
Margaret "Peg" Tomlinson on November 3rd, 1949 in Duncan, Oklahoma. The couple
was blessed with two children. Bill worked for Halliburton for over 35
years before retiring in 1986. Bill volunteered his services to the Home
Hospice, and was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sherman, Texas,
Ombudsman, and Knights of Columbus. He was also a lifetime time member of the
American Legion and VFW. Left
to cherish his memories, is his wife of over 57 years, Peg of Sherman;
two sons, William Jr. and his wife Suzanne Arend of Littleton,
Colorado, and James and his wife Virginia Arend of Topeka, Kansas; 5
grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; one brother Nicholas and his wife
Fran Arend of Gainesville, Texas; and one sister, Helen Yosten of
Muenster, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Fred, John
and Max, and 2 sisters, Fran and Florence. A rosary was recited by
Deacon John LeBlanc at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian
Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Jeremy Myers,
Pastor of the church officiating. Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic
Cemetery with members of the Knights of Columbus serving as honor guard and
pallbears.
Sherman
- Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret "Peg" Ann Arend was held Friday
morning, November 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Steve
Antes of the church officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary's
Catholic Cemetery with William J. Arend, III, Michael E. Arend, Justin
A. Arend, James A. Arend, Jr., William J. Arend, IV, and Kevin Rico
serving as pallbearers. Peg Arend, 87, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at Traditions Assisted Living in Sherman. Peg
was born January 2, 1931 in Durant, Oklahoma, daughter of Richard and
Velma Farrell Tomlinson. On November 3, 1949, she and William
Arend were married in Duncan, Oklahoma. Peg was a devoted
homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent quilter.
Her quilts won many awards and she was a certified quilt judge
herself. Peg was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She
is survived by one son, William Arend and wife, Suzanne, of Littleton,
Colorado; 2 sisters, Sylvia Cunningham of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and
Shirley Siebel of Sherman; brother, W.E. Tomlinson of Duncan, Oklahoma;
6 grandchildren, Valerie, William III, Michael, Justin, Jim, Jr., and
Casey; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Jim Arend. A rosary was recited Thursday evening, November 29 at Waldo Funeral Home. - - - Waldo Funeral Home

James
A. Arend Sr., age 57 of Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008
in Topeka. He was born September 24, 1951 in Eldorado, Kansas,
the son of William J. Arend Sr. and Margaret A. Tomlinson Arend. Jim
graduated from Russell High School and attended Ft. Hays State
University. He married Virginia Hainke June 26, 1981 in Pratt,
Kansas. He worked for over 16 years for Halliburton Oil Services
while living in Pratt, Kansas. He later worked at Payless Shoe in
Topeka and then for the Kansas Highway Patrol as a computer programmer. He
is survived by his mother, Margaret Arend of Sherman, Texas; his wife
of over 27 years, Virginia Arend of Topeka; two sons, James Arend, Jr.
of Wichita and Casey Arend of Topeka; a brother, William Bill J. Arend,
Jr. of Littleton, Colorado and a grandson, Payden J. Arend. Memorial
visitation services will be Monday, December 22, 2008 from 6:30 - 8:00
p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Memorial
contributions may be made to the James A. Arend Memorial Fund and sent
