Joe Richardson, known to many as "Daddy Joe" passed peacefully on Decmeber 15, 2016 at the age of 72. Born Ooctober 20, 1944 in Pilot Point, Texas, he was the second of 6 children. He fell in love with Peggy Bowers in 1962 and they wed in 1964, just months before he was called to serve in the Vietnam War as a mechanic and wrecker driver for the 9th Signal Battalion of the 9th Infantry Division. Upon returning to civilian life, Joe focused on raising his 4 children, dairy farming, and welding. Joe had an entrepreneurial spirit and a talent for raising livestock. With the help of his family, he built a homestead and dairy farm in Sadler, Texas in the late 1970s. He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of good work ethic on the family farm. Joe work for many years as a welder and a foreman of Texas Mfg. Co. He loved a good story, especially a funny one, and shared his love of books and storytelling with his family. Above all Joe was a devoted Christian family man and nothing pleased him more than to be surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren under his roof or in his backyard. Joe was preceded in death by his father, James Edward "Ed" Richardson, his mother, Dorothy Richardson; his sister, Glenda Culpepper and his great-granddaughter, Brinley Sutton. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; son and daughter-in-law, Joe, Jr. and Kathy Richardson; daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Charlie Newberry; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Matthew Moseley; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Sean O'Gorman; his 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Marchia Mordecai; Gail Cole; and Angie Lemons; his brother, Marc Richardson; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Monday morning, December 19, 2016 at the Sadler Cemetery, located approximately one mile south of Hwy. 82 on FM 901 in Sadler, Texas.
