WHITESBORO - Funeral services for Virginia Mae Bowen, 85, will be held on Thursday, January 16, at 10:00 a.m., in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Jerry Henry officiating. Interment will follow the services at Sadler Cemetery. Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She passed away in Whitesboro, Texas on January 12, 2014. Virginia was born on July 23, 1928 in Post, Texas to Herschal and Mabel (Vance) Evans. She was married to O. D. Reese for 50 years until he preceded her in death. She was a member of Sadler Baptist Church and she taught Sunday School. She was an avid reader and a fantastic cook. She won a spelling bee in Sherman, Texas for senior citizens. She married Don Bowen on July 13, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Don Bowen of Sadler; son Glenn Reese and wife, Janice, of Kingston, OK; son, Terry Reese, and wife, Lolita, of Gainesville; daughter, Sandra Tonkinson, of Denton; daughter, Gayle Riddle, of Whitesboro; son, Rodger Bowen, of Sadler; grandchildren: Kirk and wife, Jennifer; Kevin; Terry, Jr. and wife, Jennifer; Jodi and husband, Jason; Jill and husband, Nicholas; Brian and wife, Isabel; Ashley; Dawn and husband, Chris; Keith; Kaci and husband, Brant; Cody and wife, Kayla; great-grandchildren: Tanner, Spencer, Kirsten, Paige, Kaitlin, Nathaniel, and Banner. She was preceded in death by her husband, O. D. Reese; son, Dale Reese; son-in-law, David Tonkinson; siblings: Imogene Morris, Daphne Beauchamp; L. W. Evans, J. E. Evans, Larry Evans, and Joy Johnson. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Neeley, Jason Holland, Tanner Holland, Cody Riddle, Brian Tonkinson, and Spencer Holland.
