Jewel Clayton Walker 10 December 1901 - 25 January 1932 Whitesboro News-Record Friday, January 29, 1932 pg. 1 FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR J.C. WALKER Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church of Jewel Clayton Walker, 30, who was killed, in a truck accident at Kent Saturday. The service was conducted by Rev. Patterson, pastor of the Baptist church at Dixie, assisted by Rev. Paul Brinkley, local pastor. The accident occurred when Mr.Walker, who was working with the L.D. Parks Construction Co. on a good roads project, stumbled over a rock while running along the highway to keep warm. As he fell, a truck owned by the company bore down upon him. He was badly crushed and died in a hospital in Pecos. The body arrived here Monday morning by way of the Texas and Pacific Railway, accompanied by A.J. Stiles, Whitesboro boy who was working with the same company and L.D. Parks, general superintendent of the company. Mr. Walker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Walker, who reside three miles north of Whitesboro. He was born in Arkansas Dec. 10, 1901 and came with his parents to Grayson county when a small child. On February 25, 1927 he was married to Miss Pauline Cordell and to them two children were born. Surviving Mr. Walker are his widow and two children, his parents, and five brothers and two sisters. Interment was in the Sadler cemetery with the Summy Undertaking Company directing the funeral arrangements. The Walker family has resided in this community for some 25 years and is well known to the people of Whitesboro and surrounding communities.
