Lovejoy Cherry Wells was born in Fannin County, Texas on November 12, 1926 and departed this life on October 31, 2009. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 3, 2009 with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery. Lovejoy's father died when she was 13; and she helped her mother care for her younger brothers Carl and Paul. Lovejoy attended Grayston School and married at the age of 15 to Leslie M. Wells in 1942. Lovejoy and Les moved to near Bells where they made their home for the next several years. She loved roses and enjoyed reading and embroidering before her health failed. Lovejoy was a stay at home mom until her children were out of school and then she worked at the Chapel of Care Nursing Home for about 8 years before starting to work for the Community Hospital in East Sherman and continued to work there when they changed to Medical Plaza hospital moved to Gallagher Road, and retired after twenty years employment as a nurse’s aide so she could take care of her husband Les who passed away in 1995. Lovejoy resided in Sherman and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Red Hat Club at Texoma Healthcare.
