The Herald Democrat January 13, 2015 Bells - Dorlas June Turner, 74, departed this life in peace to proceed with the next phase of her eternal life with Christ Jesus on the afternoon of January 8, 2015 at the Sienna Extended Care Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma where she resided the last few months. A memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel in Bells, Texas with Pastor Wallace Rains of New Beginnings Fellowship in Howe, Texas officiating. Eulogy was given by her youngest son, William Turner. Dorlas was born July 20, 1940 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to parents, James Henry Hogwood and Bessie Mae Pitts Hogwood. She lived for about 30 years in various parts of California. She graduated from Escalon High School in California where she was Valedictorian of her 1958 graduating class, living at the time with her mother and stepfather, Doss Porter. Dorlas worked as a Clerk after completing bookkeeping classes. She returned to Oklahoma in 1977. In the mid-1990s she moved to Sherman. for several years before returning to Oklahoma. She lived in Seminole, Oklahoma for several years before residing in Midwest City. She was a Christian and read her Bible faithfully and enjoyed Christian hymns. She lived her life with an open door policy worthy of her given name in which all people were welcome into her home, and she would always make sure they left full of food, stories, advice and most of all, love. Dorlas loved her family and friends and is survived by her children, Carolyn Louise Pepe of Orange County, California; Vincent Nicholas Pepe and wife, Twila, of Seminole, Oklahoma; Daniel Frederick Pepe and wife, Amanda, of Sherman; and William Thomas Turner and wife, Anita, of Catoosa, Oklahoma; sister, Carolyn Sue Griffin and husband, Raymond, of Sparks, Nevada; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many loving extended family members and friends.
