Tuesday, July 22, 1941 pg1 Following an illness of one month, Mrs. Martha Carter, 69, 122 W. Hull street, died at the family home at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. She had resided in the Dripping Springs community since a child and had made her home in Denison the past three years. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bells Baptist church, with interment in the Bells cemetery. She was born in Dallas December 20, 1871, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. James Crouse. She was married July 27, 1902 at Sherman to M.P. Taylor who died several years ago. Later she married J.L. Carter, who died July 18, 1937, at Bells. She has made her home since that time in Denison. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist church of East Sherman. Surviving are two sons, J.B. Taylor, Pampa, Texas, and Lee Carter, Denison; daughters are Mrs. T. E. White, Ontorio, California; Mrs. John Baze, Bells; Miss Sallie Carter and Miss Myra Carter, of Denison. Sisters are Mrs. N.D. McMillin, Colbert, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Laurence Proffitt, Denison. Twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. The Denison Press Friday, October 31, 1952 pg.6 Funeral services were held at Bratcher-Moore chapel Wednesday afternoon for Jack Lee Carter, 45, of 903 W. Main, who died in a local hospital Monday after one month's illness. Rev. Wm. Beall officiated and interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Bells with Bratcher-Moore funeral directors in charge. Carter was born in Fannin county, August 2, 1907, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Carter. He attended Fannin county schools and was married in Sherman July 18, 1938 to Laura Gertrude Allmon. He was employed as a chef at the Eat-Well Cafe. Survivors include his widow; one son, Jackie Lynn Carter and two daughters, Lynda Joyce and ---- Jean of Denison; and three sisters, Miss Myra Carter and Miss Sallie Carter of Denison; and Mrs. John Baze of Dorchester.
