Tuesday, May 9, 1967 pg. 2 JESSE THOMAS DIES AT SAVOY Bells (Spl) - Jesse V. Thomas, 78, died Monday, May 8, 1967 at 3:20 a.m. in the Savoy resthome after an illness of one month. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist church in Bells with Rev. Robert Baldridge of McKinney officiating. Mullican-Little Funeral home directed interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Thomas, who had lived in Bells since 1954, was a retired farmer. He was born July 5, 1888 at Pottsboro, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah THomas. He married Miss Mollie Dore January 1, 1908 at Marvin, Arkansas. She preceded him in death in 1960. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include 4 sons, Jesse W. Thomas of Bonham; Clarence Thomas of Bells; Alfred and Edward Thomas of McKinney; 2 daughters, Mrs. Genova Keener and Mrs. Ruby Lee Rorie, both of Ashdown, Arkansas; 2 sisters, Mr. Myrtle Baits of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and Mrs. Nannie Eubanks of Pottsboro; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wayne, Gary and Tolbert Thomas; Howard Smith; Roy Partridge and Bill Skipworth. Bells - Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church here for Mrs. Dollie M. Thomas, 87, wife of Jesse V. Thomas of Bells. Mrs. Thomas died at 12:15 p. m. Tuesday in a Sherman hospital after a short illness. Rev. Robert Baldridge, pastor of the church, and Rev. Jess E. Fender of Bonham, Baptist minister, conducted the services. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Wise Funeral Home of Bonham. Survivors besides her husband are four sons, Clarence, Jesse and Dean Thomas, all of Bells, and Alfred Thomas of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Geneva Keener of Ashdown, Arkansas, and Mrs. Ruby Nell Rorie of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Witham and Mrs. Hamilton Davis, both of Ashdown, Arkansas, and Mrs. Mildred Hawkins of Texarkana; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
