Bessie Elizabeth Hott 1892 - 1938 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, December 15, 1938 pg. 4 MORTUARY Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie E. Hott, 46, of Collinsville, sister of Mrs. G.L. Baugher of Whitewright, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nazarene Church, Sherman, conducted by Rev. Eugene Lewis, pastor. Interment was in the Bells cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews and brothers-in-law of Mrs. Hott. Mrs. Hott was born January 21, 1892, in Oklahoma, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Kirby. She came to Texas with her parents when a child. Surviving are her parents; 5 sons, James W. Hott of Wyoming; Marvin L. Hott of Henryetta, Oklahoma; Olen H. Hott of Sherman; and Howard and Earl Hott of Collinsville; a daughter, Miss Maggie C. Hott of Collinsville; a brother, Doyce Kirby of San Antonio; 7 sisters, Mrs. Florence Vinson of Denison; Mrs. Pearl Files of Henryetta, Oklahoma; Mrs. Edna Ritchert of Wichita Falls; Mrs. Jewell Holland of Dallas; and Mrs. Jim Ann Baugher of Whitewright; Mrs. Gladys Anderson of Bells and Miss Juanita Kirby of Whitewright. Hott 29 January 1923 - 15 January 1944 California TEC5 69th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion The Whitewright Sun Thursday, January 27, 1944 pg. 5 MORTUARY Funeral services were held at Bells Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Saturday for Tech. Sgt. Earl D. Hott, 20, who was killed January 15 when his Army jeep collided with another Army vehicle in California. The body arrived in Whitewright Friday night and was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Baugher, his uncle and aunt. The funeral cortege left the Baugher home at 2:30 p.m. Saturday for Bells. A chaplain from Perrin Field conducted the services and soldiers from Perrin Field served as pallbearers. Sgt. Hott was born January 9, 1924 in Cooke County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Hott, both of whom are now deceased. He was a member of a Dallas Baptist Church and entered the service November 8, 1939. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. O.R.Corey Jr., Dallas; four brothers, Marvin Hott, Henrietta, Oklahoma; Howard S. Hott of Trona, California; Staff Sgt. James W. Hott of the Southwest Pacific; and Olen H. Hott, seaman 3rd class in the Navy; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Kirby, Bells. The Kirbys have a son, eleven grandsons and a son-in-law in uniform, most of whom are serving overseas.
