Bells - Wright Smith Roddy, 69, pioneer resident and dry goods merchant here, died of heart failure at 4:15 p.m. Sunday after an illness of nine months.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. J.B. Hibbert and Rev. Maurice Holt officiating.  Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with Glen Earnheart in charge.
Pallbearers were Eldredge Craig, Billy Dugan, Gene Oliver, John Hibbert, Charles Gibson and Vol Dawson, Jr.  Members of the Men's Bible class were honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Roddy was born in Bells, December 23, 1877 [sic], son of Mattie and W.S. Roddy, Sr.  He was married June 12, 1907 to Miss Annie Naomi Brown of Bells.
He had operated a dry goods store here since 1909, was a member of the board of stewards of the Methodist church, and a member of the school board. A son, Robert Smith Roddy, was killed in World War II.
Besides his wife, Mr. Roddy is survived by a sister, Miss Mattie Roddy, of Denison.

Mrs. Annie Roddy Mosely [sic], aged 88, passed away Sunday, November 15, 1970, at 7:30 p.m. in Fontana, California.
Services were held Saturday in the First United Methodist Church in Bells under the direction of Earnheart Funeral Home of Whitewright.  Conducting the service was Rev. Lawrence Smith, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. Harry Stanley, pastor of the First Baptist Church.  Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Bells.
Mrs. Mosely was born February 13, 1882 in Fannin county, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Brown.  She was a member of the Methodist church and a Gold Star Mother of World War II.
She had been a resident of Bells most of her life before moving to California.  She had lived in San Bernardino for the past several years.
She is survived by one brother, Earl G. Brown, of Las Vegas, California; and one sister, Mrs. Pauline Meyer of San Bernardino.
The body arrived in Dallas at 5:40 p.m. Thursday.

WITH THE MEN IN UNIFORM
Lieut. Robert S. Roddy, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Roddy of Bells, has been missing in action since May 29, according to a cablegram received Sunday from the European war area.  He was a Flying Fortress pilot and had been in England since April.  Lieut. Roddy, a nephew of Mrs. Kathryn Roddy of the Whitewright schools, was well known in Whitewright.  His wife is the former Betty Jo Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilson of Bells.

PURPLE HEART MEDAL FOR WIFE OF ARMY FLYER
Bells - Mrs. Robert Roddy has been awarded the purple heart medal for her husband, First Lieut. Robert S. Roddy, who was reported killed in action May 29 on a bombing mission over St. Nazaire, France.  He was the pilot of a Flying Fortress and of the 10 men aboard his ship only one escaped death to become a German prisoner.
Lieut. Roddy had only been overseas six weeks, having arrived in England in April.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Roddy, Jr., he was married March 5 to Miss Betty Jo Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Wilson.
