Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 18 at Mullican-Little Chapel in Bells/Savoy with Rev. Jeff Jearger officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Poage was born on March 21, 1924 in Cameron, Oklahoma, daughter of Alvin and Lela Williams Adams. On March 12, 1955 she married Jim Poage in Yuma, Arizona. She retired from Montgomery Wards as a Department Head and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Poage was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Bailey; and great-grand-daughter, Amy Brown. Surviving are her husband, Jim Poage of Savoy; daughter, Dee Pointer and husband, Robert, of Bells, Texas; sister, Bernice Broyles and husband, Jess, of Wister, Oklahoma; brothers, Sonny Adams and wife, Anita, of Poteau, Oklahoma; and Jimmy Adams and wife, Gail, of Anaheim, California; grandchildren, Steve Book and wife, Mary Ann, of Tom Bean; David Book and wife, Julie, of Miami, Texas; Danny Book of Tom Bean; Suzanna LaPan and husband, John, of Laurel, Mississippi; James Bailey and wife, Heather, of Tom Bean; Jeff Dodson of Van Alstyne; Lonnie Pointer and wife, Jackie, of Whitewright; Alan Dodson of Bells; and Donnita Smith and husband, James, of Sherman; and 22 great-grandchildren. The Herald Democrat October 11, 2010 SAVOY - Jim Poage passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at his home in Savoy. He was born December 15, 1928 in Sudgen, Oklahoma, son of Joseph T. and Violet Wood Poage. On March 12, 1955, he married Margie Adams in Yuma, Arizona. Jim was of the Baptist faith and the first of his family to graduate from high school at Sudgen High School. He was a carpet layer most of his life, owning his own business. He also worked for the Forest Service in Idaho. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Surviving are his daughter, Dee Pointer and her husband, Robert, of Bells; brothers, Andy Poage of Waurika, Oklahoma; and Bob Poage of Kingman, Arizona; grandchildren, Steve Book and his wife, Mary Ann, of Tom Bean; David Book and his wife, Julie, of Gruver; Danny Book of Sherman; Suzanna LaPan of Sherman; James Bailey and his wife, Heather, of Tom Bean; Jeff Dodson and his wife, Lori, of Corpus Christi; Lonnie Pointer and his wife, Jackie, of Whitewright; Alan Dodson of Bells; and Donnita Smith and her husband, James, of Denison; 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. His wife of 51 years; his parents; daughter, Linda Bailey; great-granddaughter, Amy Brown; 2 brothers, Hollis and Billy Earl; and two sisters, Nettie and Betty, preceded Jim in death. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel in Bells/Savoy. Rev. Jerry Colgrove officiated. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
