ANOTHER ONE
Another case of morphine poisoning
occurred on Skiddy street Sunday night, which resulted in the death
of Mrs. Sullivan, a widow and mother of several children, one of which,
a mere child, was with her, living in a house of doubtful
reputation. She took the morphine as
stated, with evident intention of taking her
own life. She had asked one of the
girls if she would
take care of her little boy if anything
should happen to her in a few days. As soon
as it was known that she had taken the poison, Dr. Johnson was called,
who administered an antidote. She appeared to improve, and was
thought to be out of danger, when Dr. Johnson left her; but it appears
she was taken worse and despite
the exertions of Dr. Field, who
was called died about noon on Monday.
