A
man named Wm. Holloman, working at the Perry
brick yard, was found
Monday near the yard in a dying condition
from the effects of a large
quantity of arsenic which he had purchased
and taken with suicidal
intent. He was brought to the city and
placed upon a cot in the
jail corridor where Dr. Booth, the city
physician, attended him.
By the use of emetics and the proper
antidotes his life was
saved, and he was send Wednesday to Savoy
where he has a wife living.
When brought to consciousness first he
stated that the reason he
took the poison was because he had killed a
man in Tennessee 2 years
ago and fear of arrest, together with
general misfortune. had made him
so that he didn't want to live. He
stated before he left that he
would try the experiment again shortly with
better success.
