BAIL ALLOWED WOMAN HELD FOR BABE'S DEATH
Sherman, Texas, Aug. 13 - Laura Isom, a young white woman, who has been in the Grayson County jail charged with murder in connection with the death of an infant, has been granted bail in the sum of $5,000.  The baby, it is alleged in the indictment, was born last May and was choked to death.
The young woman is a member of a well known family near Bells, Grayson County.  She was only recently divorced from her husband, a young man named Evans, and her maiden name restored by the court's decree.

Sherman, Sept. 4 - On account of physical inability of the defendant to appear in court, the case of the State vs. Laura Isom, charged with murder in connection with the death of an infant, was continued when called for trial Thursday morning.

WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO STRANGLING CHILD; INSANITY THE DEFENSE
Sherman, Texas, Oct. 17 - In the 15th District Court this morning the special venire case of the State versus Laura Isom was tried and disposed of/.  The defendant was charged with the murder of her own child by choking it to death.  A plea of guilty was entered and counsel for the defendent, J.D. Buster, pleaded temporary insanity on the part of the defendant.  The jury returned a verdict convicting her of manslaughter, and assessing her punishment at  a 4 years suspended sentence.
The defendant is the daughter of L.C. Isom of Bells.  She was formerly married, and at the time of the alleged murder, had recently been granted a divorce from her husband, and her maiden name restored.
J.T. Hunt of Denison was foreman of the jury which returned the verdict.
