Investigator Dusty
Wainscott died of a heart attack after chasing
and getting into a fight with two criminals who
had fled on foot during a traffic stop.
He worked for the Grayson County's Sheriffs
Office 16 years. and had served in the Pottsboro
and Van Alstyne Police Department's.
Dusty L Wainscott was buried in the Oakwood
Cemetery in Whitesboro
Dusty L. Wainscott, 38, of
Whitesboro, Texas, was called home to the Lord
on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
Dusty was born on October 2, 1982 in Sherman,
Texas to Wanda and Larry Wainscott. A graduate
of S&S High School in Sadler, Texas he then
went on to graduate from Texoma Regional Police
Academy of Grayson College in 2005, receiving
his certification as a police officer. Dusty
served first with the Van Alstyne and the
Pottsboro police departments before joining the
GCSO in 2008. There he served as a patrol
deputy, a field training officer, hostage
negotiator, criminal investigator, and
intelligence investigator. Dusty was a loving
husband, son, brother, and friend. He had a
sense of humor and personality larger than life
itself and could liven up a room just by walking
in the door. He was a good ol' country boy and
will be missed by all that had the privilege of
knowing and loving him.
He is survived by his wife, Lindsey Wainscott of
Whitesboro; parents, Larry, and Wanda Wainscott
of Gordonville; sister, Tiffany Wainscott of
Gordonville; father and mother-in-law, Shelly
& Joyce Hughes of Collinsville; uncle,
Emmett Wainscott and wife, Carolyn of Wichita
Falls; uncle, Perry Wainscott and wife, Lou Ann
of Whitesboro, as well as endless extended
family and friends.

Funeral services honoring Dusty will be held at
10:00 AM on Monday, September 13, 2021 at First
Baptist Church of Whitesboro, officiated by
Chaplain Mike Ball and Sheriff Tom Watts.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in
Whitesboro. A time of visitation will be held
for family and friends on Sunday, September 12,
2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Meador Funeral
Home in Whitesboro.
