Evelyn Braden will celebrate her 100th birthday Sunday, Dec. 12, at her home in Sherman.  With her will be her children: Eva Braden of Sherman; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Sue Braden of Mesquite; and daughter-in-law Dottie Braden of Sherman.
Also present will be her grandchildren, Jill, Vanna, Bill Jr., Chris and Todd, as well as great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was born to John William Davis and Sabina Jane Neathery Davis December 12, 1893, in Pilot Grove in Grayson County.  Her parents moved to Grayson County from Clinton County, Ky., in1883, settling near the Pilot Grove community.  Her father helped in the construction of the Pilot Grove Methodist Church, which in recent years has been removed to "Old City Park" in Dallas.
She was married to Ben Avery Braden on July 19, 1914.  He is deceased.  The couple lived in Alabama for a while.  After the birth of their three children, they returned to Texas where the family has resided since.
Mrs. Braden has been a member of the East Sherman Baptist Church for more than 40 years.
