Braden Celebrating
100th Birthday
Evelyn
Braden will celebrate her 100th birthday
Sunday, Dec. 12, at her home
in Sherman. With her will be her
children: Eva Braden of Sherman;
son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Sue Braden
of Mesquite; and
daughter-in-law Dottie Braden of Sherman.
Also present will be
her grandchildren, Jill, Vanna, Bill Jr.,
Chris and Todd, as well as
great-grandchildren.
Evelyn
was born to John William Davis and Sabina
Jane Neathery Davis December
12, 1893, in Pilot Grove in Grayson County.
Her parents moved to
Grayson County from Clinton County, Ky.,
in1883, settling near the
Pilot Grove community. Her father
helped in the construction of
the Pilot Grove Methodist Church, which in
recent years has been
removed to "Old City Park" in Dallas.
She was married to Ben
Avery
Braden on July 19, 1914. He is
deceased. The couple lived
in Alabama for a while. After the
birth of their three children,
they returned to Texas where the family has
resided since.
Mrs. Braden has been a
member of the East Sherman Baptist Church
for more than 40 years.
