U.S. Retired CPO John Ellis Brown, Jr., 78, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 at Texoma Medical Center.
Military graveside services will be held at Preston Bend Cemetery on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by VFW Lakesite Post #7873.
John was born May 9, 1930 in Caddo, Texas to John Ellis and Willie Adella Cobble Brown, Sr.
Chief Petty Officer (Ret) John E. Brown served as Chief Boatswain's mate for over 20 years before retiring from the U.S.Navy. He then retired again from Pillsbury Company. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, BPOE and the AMVETS.
He married Brenda J. Collins on February 21, 1989 in Grayson County. She preceded him in death August 22, 1995.
Survivors include his nephews: Mike Blanton of Pineville, La. and Bobby Blanton of Azle, TX, and his nieces; Sandy Chapman of Livingston, TX; Retha Lewis of Colbert, OK; Susie Raner of Ft, Worth, TX; Sharon Blanton and Becky Blanton, both of Denison, Kath Blanton and Patricia Blanton both of Fritch, Texas.
