YOUNG LADY SHOOTS SELF
Miss Leona Holland, 32 years of age, daughter of M.H. Holland, a prominent farmer residing one mile east of Preston, shot and killed herself at the family home shortly after 4 o'clock Friday afternoon.
She used a 45-calibre pistol, the bullet entering the right side of her head and going through.  Death was instantaneous.  No cause for the deed is known.
It was stated that her father saw her running in the back yard, immediately after having heard a shot fired, and he saw her fall near the back door.
County Auditor Allie Noble, who is an old friend of the family, said today: "Miss Leona went to school to me when she was a little girl.  She was born and reared near Preston and was a most excellent young lady, a devout Christian, a member of the Methodist church, and I was greatly shocked and grieved to learn of her tragic death.  She was a member of one of Grayson county's best families.  Her mother died three years ago."
Besides her father, Miss Holland is survived by four brothers and six sisters, as follows:  George Holland, Howard Holland, Clayton Holland, Millard Holland, Mrs. Myrtle Jackson, Mrs. Frank Fawcett, Miss Sybie Holland, Miss Fannie Holland and Miss Aubrey Holland, all of whom reside in the Preston community.
Funeral services were held at the family home this afternoon and burial was in the cemetery at Preston.
