Friday, December 6, 1907 pg.3 PORTER CHURCH This section was shocked to learn of the tragic death of Mr. Henry Carver, who for a number of years lived in this neighborhood, but for the last few years in Whitewright. He went to Uvalde two weeks ago, and his wife and daughter started later to join him there, accompanied by J. Tom Williams. When they arrived in San Antonio, they received a telegram stating that he had killed himself. A letter from Mr. Williams, written after they arrived in Uvalde, stated that he had borrowed a gun from a man, telling him that he was going to shoot some quail for his folks when they came. He went down from the house a piece, and when they found him he had shot a rabbit. There was a pole laying near him with mud on it, and from the way he was lying it is supposed that he slipped and jarred the gun, causing it to discharge. The owner of the gun said that the barrel that was empty was very easy on trigger. It is very sad indeed for he had a host of friends.
