SHERMAN - Jane Trice passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, Jan. 18, 2009. She now patiently resides in a place that most of us only hope actually exists. She never doubted it, and lived her life accordingly. She raised two boys and all her grandchildren in the same belief.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Jacob Trice, Andy Trice, Fred Gunter, Welby Pleasant, Welton Stoker, Kelsey McCaughan and Jean Couture. Burial will follow at the Pilot Grove Cemetery.
Jane was born Aug. 11, 1916 in Tom Bean to John (Gus) Augustus and Hannah Rhodes Viser. Her dad owned the Tom Bean Drug Store. She graduated from Whitewright High School. She was a student, and lover of people. She provided a lifetime of examples of living a Godly life; sort-of like the movie, "Pay It Forward," as my brother said.
She was what we now refer today as a stay-at-home mom. (It's actually okay to be one Laura cause Gramma said so.) She was a Sunday school teacher, den mother to two generations of neighborhood kids, a blue-ribbon winner in the Sherman Garden Club, and a published writer.
She always seemed to know of a family, any family, any color, who was out of work, where there would be no Santa gifts left for the children. But Mom always had thousands of Green Stamps on hand, which were delivered to the parents just in time to lick 'n paste thousands of them into the books, just in time to make it to the S&H Green Stamp Redemption store. And those kids woke up with a squeal on Christmas morning.
Our mother made our Dad proud. "She was a 'Virtuous woman,'" he said, and he didn't ever lie to us boys.
Jane is survived by two sons, A. Scott Trice and Cliff Trice and wife, Jerry, both of Sherman, five grandchildren, Leslie
and husband, Jean and Laura and husband Kelsey of Krum, Melissa, Sarah and husband, Fred and Jennifer, all of Sherman; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Stripling and husband, Carl of Sherman and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, John "Bub" Viser.

The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Waldo Funeral Home.
