Thursday, May 14, 1953 pg. 1 Funeral services for Mrs. T.L. Hopkins, 73, who died in a Sherman hospital Monday were held at Pilot Grove Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Ross Bourland, Rev. Howard McSpedden, Rev. Jimmie Burton and Rev. U.C. Broach. Burial was in Pilot Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.W. McKinney, Bill McKinney, Albert Burks, Miles Philley, Joe Mitchell and Benton Wallace. Mrs. Hopkins was born October 21, 1879 in Kentucky and had lived in the Pilot Grove community for a number of years. She was a member of the Pilot Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Earl Hopkins of Leonard and Noah Hopkins of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Hunt of Sherman and Mrs. Fred Sims of Dallas; and six grandchildren. Broach, and Rev. Dale Gore. Burial in Pilot Grove Cemetery will be directed by Earnheart. Pallbearers will be George Bennett, Joe Rich, Earl Benson, Bob Andrew, Arlie St. John and J.C. Elliott. Mr. Hopkins died Wednesday night at the Whitewright Rest Home. Born November 2, 1876 at Franklin, Missouri, Mr. Hopkins was the son of Lewis Frank and Rousetta Ann Hopkins. He married Miss Addie Ross at Pilot Grove in 1899, and she died in 1903. He married Mrs. Emily M. Ashinhurst September 15, 1907 at Pilot Grove. He had farmed in the Pilot Grove community until his retirement. He was a member of the Whitewright Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Earl L. Hopkins of Leonard and Noah Hopkins of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Hunt of Sherman and Mrs. Fred F. Sims of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Tillie Trotter of Clifton; Mrs. Mattie Truett of Houston; and Mrs. George Bennett of Dallas; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
