The Whitewright Sun Thursday, September 11, 1952 pg. 1 Funeral services for Miss Cordelia Russell, 41, were held Wednesday in Earnheart Chapel, conducted by Rev. Fred Thomas of Trenton and Rev. James L. Cooper. Burial was in Pilot Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Webster of Sherman, J.L. Devenport of Jacksonville, C.W. Mitchell of Tyler, Bob Poole of Dallas, and Earl Blanton and Gomer May of Whitewright. Miss Russell died suddenly Monday at Dallas where she was employed. Born May 1, 1911 at Pilot Grove, Miss Russell was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom J. Russell. She was graduated from Whitewright High School, then attended a business college. She worked in the accounting department of J.L. Devenport & Co. for 17 years, first at Whitewright, then going with them to Jacksonville when the company headquarters transferred to that place in 1934. For the past year she had been employed by an insurance company in Dallas. Surviving are her parents; two brothers, T.J. Russell of Borger and Orville Russell of Whitewright; one sister, Mrs. H.B. Ross Bourland of Altoga and Rev. LeRoy Martin of Sherman. Burial was in Pilot Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bruce Dixon, E.O. Young, Charlie Kaiser, Clint Hopper, Taylor Autrey, and Earl Benson. Mr. Russell died Saturday in a hospital at Tyler after a long illness. Born at McKinney July 20, 1888, he married Miss Fannie Binion at Pilot Grove June 19, 1910. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Wallace, Leonard; two sons, T.G. Russell, Borger, and Orville H. Russell, Fort Belvoir, Virginia; six brothers, R.H. Russell, Wichita, Kansas; Will Russell, Durant, Oklahoma; Bob Russell, Post; Wheeler Russell, Trenton; Richard Russell, Whitewright and Arthur Russell, Van Alstyne; three sisters, Mrs. Sam Aldridge, Durant, Oklahoma; Mrs. O.G. Bow, Whitewright; and Mrs. John Wright, Whitewright; and five grandchildren.
