Sarah E. Ross 1856 - 1930 Nathaniel G. Ross 1852 - 1927 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, November 24, 1927 pg. 1 AGED CITIZEN DIED HERE MONDAY N.G. Ross, for the past twelve years a citizen of Whitewright, died at his residence Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. The deceased had been confined to his bed for the past six weeks and had been in poor health for the past three years. Mr. Ross was born in Bradley County, Tennessee and celebrated his 75th birthday anniversary last August. He was married to Miss Sarah Witt of Bradley County, Tennessee, on April 5, 1885. They moved to Texas in 1895 and settled in the Pilot Grove community south of town. Mr. Ross owned and operated a general merchandise store at Pilot Grove for about tive years before moving to Whitewright. The deceased had been for many years a member of the Baptist Church and in his young manhood was an active member of the Masonic fraternity. The funeral service was held at the late residence Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.H. Hankins and Rev. J.L. Truett. Interment was at the Pilot Grove Cemetery. The burial service was conducted by Rev. J.A. Henderson. Besides his wife, the deceased is survived by the following children: H.A. Ross, Mrs. Minnie Conway, Tyler; C.N. Ross, Mrs. Mary Perkinson and Mrs. Annie Badgett, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Willie D. Ross 1884 - 1965 Charlie N. Ross 1880 - 1956 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, October 25, 1956 pg. 1 Funeral services for C.N. Ross, 75, were held Friday afternoon at the Earnheart chapel, conducted by Rev. Howard McSpedden of Denton, Rev. W.E. Thomas of Enterprise, and Rev. W.J. Epting of Sherman. Burial was in Pilot Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lois Ross, Clifton Ross, Aubrey Walker, Lloyd Neathery, Douglas Walker, Cecil Ray Walker, Noah Hopkins and Earl Hopkins, all nephews of Mr. Ross. He was born November 9, 1880, in Bradley County Tennessee, the son of N.G. and Sara Ross. He moved with his parents to the Cherokee Nation at the age of 2, and to Pilot Grove at the age of 4, and had lived in this community ever since. He was married to Willie Davis Cowart December 29, 1904, at Bethel. He was a retired farmer, and a deacon of the Enterprise Baptist Church of which he had been a member for 36 years. Surviving are his wife; two sons, P.A. Ross and W.D. Ross of Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. George Heitt of Houston; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Perkinson of Whitewright, Mrs. Minnie Conoway of Tyler, and Mrs. Allie Badgett of Guthrie, Oklahoma; and one brother, H.A.
