- Services for John Doyle Garland, 96, of Sherman were held Friday,
September 19, 2008 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel; burial followed in
Pilot Grove Cemetery, with Rev. Danny Wood of West Sherman Baptist
Church officiating and arrangements under the direction of Waldo
Funeral Home.
He passed away September 14, 2008 at the Country Club Nursing Care Home in Duncan, Oklahoma. Doyle was born September 19, 1911 in Pilot Grove, son of John Garland and Edna Wood. He married Jeanie Tate April 24, 1931 in Durant, Oklahoma. Doyle began working for Mrs. Tucker's in the 1930s, which later became Anderson Clayton; he retired in 1976. Doyle is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rowe and husband, Quentin, of Duncan, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Rena Huppka of Velma, Oklahoma; and great-granddaughter, Rebecca Kelley; brothera Dwight Garland of Irving and Bryan Douglas Garland of Sherman; sisters, Ina Langford of Van Alstyne and Frances Bush of Whitewright. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and several brothers and sisters.
