Thursday, October 2, 1941 pg. 5 Funeral services for Stanley F. Garland, native of the Pilot Grove community, who died at a Sherman hospital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Pilot Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. F.A. Ray of Trenton, Rev. Howard McSpedden of Pilot Grove and Rev. Dan Vestal of Orangeville conducted the funeral services, with burail in the Pilot Grove Cemetery, directed by Glen Earnheart. Mrs. Garland was born August 14, 1879 at Pilot Grove, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Garland. He had lived in that community all his life. He was married to Miss Ella Ashinhurst on December 30, 1900. Mr. Garland was associated with A.L. Conner in the operation of the Pilot Grove gin. Having spent all of his life in this section, he was known to many people and had many friends in this section of Grayson County. He is survived by his wife; one son, C.H. Garland of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Curtis Ashley of Commerce; a sister, Mrs. M.R. Gramling of Dallas; four brothers, John Garland of Van Alstyne; Duard Garland of Dallas; and Brice and Lewis Garland of Slaton; and four grandchilren.
