Miss Emma Cowart, 76, daughter of Jonathan and Frances Cowart, died suddenly Sunday at 4 p.m. at the home of her sister, Mrs. M.J. Long, with whom she made her home.
Funeral services were held at the residence Monday at 3 p.m., with Rev. G.C. Ivins and Rev. J.R. Waldrum officiating.  Interment was in Pilot Grove Cemetery, under direction of R.R. Waldo.
She was born September 1, 1859, near Bonham and had been a resident of Whitewright since 1918.
She is survived by 3 brothers, Charles Cowart of Silverton; John H. Cowart of Plainview; and Tom Cowart of Tucson, Arizona; and a sister, Mrs. M.J. Long.
The following tribute was written by a friend of Miss Cowart and was sent to The Sun with request to publish:

Miss Emma lived the ideal life, the life of service and suffering.  The death and loss of one so true means this is not the end, but that there is an abiding place beyond.
The pure live in the light of this;
Knowing that I came from God, and that after a brief season I shall return to God, let me walk in the light.

O blessed sleep that will not break
For tears nor prayers,
O perfect rest that knows no pain,
That only the true through death obtain.
Weep for the days that will come no more,
For a missing step on hearth and floor.
But not for a soul whose goal is won,
Whose infinite joy has just begun,
Nor for the spirit robed in white,
And crowned where the angels are.
