Denison Section 9 J.W. Weaver 18 August 1846 - 17 October 1915
J.W. Weaver, 69, Succumbs Sunday Eve Following a short illness occasioned by a general failing in health, John W. Weaver, a respected resident of Denison, died at his residence 408 West Gandy street, at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Weaver had been in declining health for the past six months, but no immediate fear was entertained until a short time before his death. Mr. Weaver, who has been employed in the bridge and building department of the Missouri, Kansas and Texas railway for the past twenty years, during which he acquired a wide acquaintance in the city, was born in Xenia, Ohio on August 18th, 1846. He was a member of Live Oak Camp No. 71, Woodmen of the World. He had held membereship in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for more than forty-eight years. He was also a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church, North, for twenty years. The decedent is survived by six children, all of whom are residing in Denison. They are Mrs. A.E. Little, Mrs. Frank Slagle, Mrs. Phil May, Mrs. D.C. Foster, W.F. Weaver and Burr S. Weaver. Three brothers survive, they being C.F. Weaver and J.F. Weaver, both of whose homes are in Indiana. E.H. Weaver, the third brother, lives in California. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Methodist church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, the Rev. J.A. Bransom being in charge of the ceremonies. Burial will be in Oak Wood cemetery under the supervision and auspices of the Odd Fellows.
