 Denison  Section 9  Charles Smallwood 1861 - 14 September 1907 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, September 22, 1907 pg.3 CONDENSED HOME NEWS Chas. Smallwood, one of the most estimable colored citizens that ever lived in this section, died last Saturday and was buried Sunday from the Hopewell Baptist Church. The funeral was very imposing, over 100 vehicles being in line; many came over from Sherman, including the brass band. The interment was at Oakwood Cemetery. He was buried under the auspices of colored Odd Fellows. Charley Smallwood's death is as much lamented among the whites as his own race. He was honorable and upright, a faithful servant of his employer. He was porter on the M. K. & T. for many years.  OAKWOOD CEMETERY
