Denison Section 8 Lelah A. McCallister 2 March 1873 - 7 April 1897 Infant McCallister "Sleeping with Mamma" The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, April 18, 1897 pg. 1 Mrs. J.A. McCallister Dead After a brief illness Mrs. J.A. McCallister died Wednesday, April 7th, at her home, No. 811 West Sheppart street. Death was very sad in this case, for the young wife was only a little over 24 years of age. In social and domestic life Mrs. McCallister was a most charming woman. In this was the strength and beauty of her character. In the prime of life and with opportunity and promise of many years of usefulness and happiness, death blighted all. The funeral took place last Sunday at 3 p.m. The interment was at Oakwood Cemetery, Rev. Gibble of the Episcopal church officiating. A large number of sympathizing friends attended the funeral. At a special meeting of the Red River lodge, No. 8, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen, the following resolutions were adopted: Whereas, it has pleased Divine Providence to remove from her sphere of usefulness Mrs. J.A. McCallister, wife of J.A. McCallister, and Whereas, it is fitting that this lodge should take action on the death of the wife of our fellow member, therefore be it Resolved, That Red River Lodge No. 8, B. of L.F., extends to the bereaved husband its heartfelt sympathies in his great affliction; and be it further Resolved, That these resolutions be spread upon the minutes and a copy thereof be transmitted to our beloved brother.
