Denison Section 7 R.E. Sherrill died 4 September 1893 Aged 27 Years The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, September10, 1893 pg. 4 LOCAL CONDENSATIONS Monday, September 4 - Engineer R.E. Sherrill, residing at 718 West Texas Street, died at 6:13 o'clock this morning. The remains are to be interred in Oakwood cemetery tomorrow evening at 3:30 o'clock. HOME Following an illness of five weeks' duration, Miss Sallie Sherrill, 81, died at her home, 722 West Texas street Sunday night at 10:58. She lived at that point for the past 50 years. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Short-Murray chapel with Rev. Paul Cardwell, pastor of Trinity Methodist church, conducting, followed by interment at Oakwood. Miss Sherrill was born at Pulaski, Tennessee, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. John Sherrill. She was a member of Waples Memorial church. Her education was received in Franklin, Tennessee, where she graduated in a college for girls. She was a fluent speaker in several languages. Several cups were awarded her in her school days. She taught in the schools of Denton for several years until ill health forced her retirement. Surviving are a brother, G.L. Sherrill; two sisters, Mrs. W.R. Mays and Miss Mattie Sherrill of this city. Several distant relatives also survive. The Denison Press Tuesday, May 25, 1937 pg. 1 FUNERAL OF MISS SHERILL HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON The funeral of Miss Sallie Sherrill was conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Short-Murray chapel with Rev. Paul O. Cardwell of Trinity Methodist church officiating. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery, Short-Murray directing and the following as pallbearers: W.T. Fullington, Charles McKemy, Corwyn Groves, Earl Gardner, J.H. Blackburn and Fred Harvey. The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, September 24, 1911 pg. 4 HOME NEWS Mrs. Martha A. Sherill [sic], age 84 years, died at her home, No. 722 W. Texas street. The deceased is survived by 2 sons, W.L. Sherill [sic] ol Andrews, Texas and G.L. Sherill [sic] of Denison, Texas, and 3 daughters, Miss Sallie Sherill [sic] of Andrews; Miss Mattie Sherill [sic] of Denison; and Mrs. R.W. Mays of Denison, and a brother and sister in Tullahoma, Tennessee. The internment was at Oakwood Cemetery. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
