Camp, M.D. 10 March 1852 - 1 November 1898 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, November 6, 1898 pg. 3 Local Condensations Tuesday, November 1 - Dr. John H. Camp, after an illness extending over a year, died to-day of Bright's disease. His sufferings have been terrible and death was a blessed relief. Dr. Camp located here from east Texas. At the time he was stricken he was enjoying a very fair practice. His means were exhausted long before his death and the church has contributed liberally. The doctor was aged 41 years. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery. The Denison Press Wednesday, July 25, 1934 pg. 1 Mrs. M.E. Camp Died Wednesday in Local Hospital Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Camp, 71, resident of Denison for the past 36 years, died Wednesday morning at 10:45 at a local hospital, after being there only a few hours. She had been in ill health for some time, and was removed to the hospital early Wednesday morning where death occurred. Mrs. Camp was born in Roanoke, Alabama on February 20, 1863, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Shoffer, of that city. She left there at the age of 4 years, but did not come to Denison until 1889. She married Dr. J.H. Camp of this city, who died here in 1898. She has resided in Denison since the death of her husband. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. I.E. Miller, Denison; Mrs. E.H. Shaffer, Fort Worth; Mrs. O.P. Grandey, Denton; four brothers, J.S. Shoffer, Denison; R.P. Shoffer, Vernon, Texas; E.T. Shoffer and G. Shoffer of Blackwell, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, followed by interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Short-Murray, funeral directors, being in charge of arrangements.
