Riley, 58, who made his home in Denison for the past forty years, and resided at 2401 W. Walker street, died at the Katy hospital at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday following a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Short-Murray chapel, Rev. Ben F. Hearn officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood with Short-Murray directing. He was born and reared at Gainesville, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Riley. He was married in 1903 to Miss Florence Duckworth and was a member of the B. of R.T. and the Eagles. Surviving are his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Annabelle Porter and Mrs. Jimmie Dyer, both of this city. Sisters are Mrs. Jess Delap, Gainesville and Mrs. H.N. Renfro, Avoca, Arkansas. Also surviving are two grandchildren. Mr. Riley entered Katy service in Denison in 1906 as a switchman leaving it in 1910 to enter the grocery business in Sherman. He operated the store from 1911 to 1915 and entered the service of the Frisco at Sapulpa, Oklahoma, working from 1915 to 1917 when he returned to Denison as switchman for the Katy and remained in the employ of the road until June 1940 The Denison Press Friday, June 13, 1952 pg. 1 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Bratcher-Moore chapel for Mrs. Florence Riley, 71, of 2401 W. Walker, who died in a local hospital Tuesday after 6 weeks of illness. Rev. Ronald Prince, pastor of Parkside Baptist Church, officiated and interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Riley had lived in Denison 46 years. She was born in Ben Franklin, Texas, August 4, 1881, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Duckworth. She attended schools in Ben Franklin and was married in Denison January 28, 1903 to J.A. Riley, Katy switchman, who died in 1940. She was a member of Parkside Baptist Church. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Earl Porter of Denison and Mrs. Paul E. Dyer of Anchorage, Alaska; and 3 grandchildren. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
