Craig 1869 - 1937 The Denison Press Thursday, July 29, 1937 pg. 1 CRAIG, SUCCUMBS Charlie Craig, 68, who resided at 1224 Coffin street, died at a local hospital at 6:45 a.m. Thursday after an illness of two days. He had worked as city fireman, also with the Katy in the freight department and operated a transfer business for several years but had retired. Before coming to this city he lived at Columbus, Kan. at which point he was born April 27, 1869. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Craig Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday from the Short-Murray chapel with interment at Oakwood. Short-Murray will direct. At the age of five years he left with his parents from his birthplace and came to Denison. He was connected with the city fire department as a fireman for a number of years. Later he accepted work with the Katy at the Ray freight transfer sheds as checker. He suffered an injury while in that capacity and to retire. Later he conducted a transfer business several years but retired from active duty three years ago. He had been a resident of Denison for the past 63 years. His wife suffered a broken hip some time back and is confined to her bed. She was Miss Ada Edgett of this city whom he married July 25, 1895. He was a member of the Baptist church. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. John Crutchfield, assisted by Rev. Ben F. Hearn. Surviving are his widow and a sister, Mrs. Harry Frame of this city. The Denison Press Tuesday, October 11, 1938 pg. 1 RESIDENT OF CITY 61 YEARS DIED MONDAY Mrs. C.H. Craig, died Monday afternoon at 3:55 at her home at 1224 W. Coffin after a long illness. Mrs. Craig had been a resident of Denison for 61 years. The funeral services are to be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 at the home with Rev. L.R. Lamb officiating. Short-Murray will direct and burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Craig fell and broke her hip at her home June 3, 1937 and had been an invalid since that time. Her husband died July 29, 1937. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. B.M. Edget, now deceased, October 28, 1876 in Denison. She was educated in the Denison schools and married C.H. Craig in 1895. Surviving are 2 brothers, G.W. and L.T. Edget of Denison; 2 cousins, Mrs. Andy Burch of Denison and Mrs. Alma Fullington of Amarillo. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
