(Pa) Batson were conducted Monday afternoon from the Bratcher Moore funeral home with interment in Oakwood cemetery. Death came to the aged spiritual leader at his home113-1/2 Main after an extended illness. For more than half a century he had given his life, along with the like example by his wife, to caring for others in their chosen field of mission work. Early in life after their marriage in Springfield, Missouri, they decided on such a career. It led them into the Salvation Army work, and after years in that capacity, and following closing down of the home here, they entered the field as local worked and have operated the city mission at the address of....death. Only two of his eight children survive, Mrs. Bessie Fisher of El Centro, California, and Mrs. Nettie Woolaver of Denison. Eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive. Batson, 40, died in a hospital today of injuries suffered when struck by an automobile in the business district here last night. The driver of the car failed to stop.
