Denison Daily News Friday, April 9, 1880 Mr. Ammer, who lost one son Sunday by scarlet fever, has another son sick with the same disease. Denison Daily News Thursday, April 15, 1880 Mr. Ammer, living on west Woodard street, has three children down with scarlet fever. Denison Daily News Sunday, April 18, 1880 Two of the children of Mr. Ammer have died with scarlet fever and were buried last week. The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, July 16, 1899 pg. 4 PERSONALS J.M. Ammer and daughter have returned from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Miss Ammer was attacked with blood poisoning and was obliged to have a toe amputated. She is quite ill at her home. LOCAL CONDENSATIONS Tuesday, July 13, 1899 Miss Minnie Ammer, who was blood poisoned in Colorado, was very bad off to-day and her friends are alarmed over her condition. The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, July 23, 1899 pg. 1 MINNIE AMMER DEAD Miss Minnie Ammer, a lovely and most estimable young lady, died Friday morning at her home No. 1029 West Woodard Street. The deceased had been in failing health for the past two years. Several weeks ago Mr. Ammer took his daughter to Colorado, hoping that a change of climate might benefit her. The young lady met with an accident there which produced blood poisoning and necessitated an immediate return home. Miss Ammer since her return has been gradually sinking, the best medical attention being of no avail. At the time of death, the deceased was twenty-three years, three months, twenty-three days. She was born at Grand Junction, Green County, Iowa. She came to Denison with her parents at a very tender age. She was a most exemplary young lady who endeared herself to all. She was an active member of the Congregational church, and will be buried Saturday (to-day) at 10 o'clock a.m. from that church. The young ladies associated with her in church work will act as pall bearers. The interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, November 22, 1903 pg. 5 J.M. Ammer Dead The Gazetteer regrets to anno unce the death of J.M. Ammer, who died very suddenly of congestive chill, Wednesday evening. The deceased is a pioneer resident of Denison, having first cast his lot here in the 70's. Mr. Ammer was for many years one of our most enterprising citizens. While a very quiet and retiring man, he never refused to give a helping hand to any enterprise that would advance the interests of Denison. Mr. Ammer, by his industrious habits, acquired considerable property in Denison. He leaves a family to mourn his untimely loss. No better citizen than J.M. Ammer has resided in our midst. He was a truthful exponent of the golden rule. The deceased was laid to rest Thursday at the Oakwood cemetery. The funeral took place from the family residence, No. 1027 West Woodard street.
