Denison Section 4
Denison Daily Cresset Friday, June 1, 1877 pg 4 Just before going to press, we learn of the death of our well known citizen, F.R. Brown, which occurred between 1 and 2 o'clock this p.m. at his residence on Sears street. This announcement will be received with unfeigned regret by all classes and people. In his death our city has lost one of her most public spirited men - such a man as we can ill afford to lose. A further notice of the deceased will appear in a future issue of the Cresset. The funeral of the deceased will take place at the Presbyterian church Sunday morning at 8 o'clock. Denison Daily News Tuesday, June 5, 1877 pg. 3 Rev. Mr. Carson conducted the funeral services over the remains of F.R. Brown, at the Presbyterian church Sunday morning. The body was followed from the residence of the church by the Masonic fraternity. After the services the remains were taken charge of by the members of the Lone Star Lodge, who followed the hearse in procession to the cemetery, where the casket that contained all that was left of their brother was deposited in the silent grave, with the beautiful and impressive rites of this ancient and honorable order. Denison Daily Herald Wednesday, November 21, 1877 pg. 4 The Devil's Own Not long since the Herald contained a notice of the fitting monument placed in Oakwood cemetery over the remains of the late F.R. Brown by his mourning wife. It was a fitting mark of respect to the memory of a firm and faithful friend of our young city, and in which every citizen of Denison felt almost a personal interest. It was a wife's tribute to a loving husband.... OAKWOOD CEMETERY
