WAR VETERAN DIES SUNDAY IN LOCAL JAIL
Russell P. Feimster, Farmer Near Cotton Mill District, Succumbs Late Saturday
Russell P. Feimster, 40, world war veteran and resident of the Cotton Mill district for the past year, died suddenly in the city jail Saturday afternoon, an hour after he had been placed there by officers on a drunkeness charge.
Feimster was picked up by the city police in Forest Park Saturday afternoon and placed in the city jail.  The first thing that was known of his illness and death came at 5:05 p.m. when three prisoners in the cell called Jimmy Price, desk sergeant, and asked him to investigate Feimster's condition, as he was acting strangely.  Price said that he thought the man was dead before the physician was called.
The deceased was born in Ollena, Arkansas, March 11 18-6, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Feimster, where he was reared and educated.  He worked as a salesman with several companies before he joined the United States Army July 28, 1918, later discharged in November of the same year because of a chronic knee injury.  He came to Denison in 1935, where he farmed near the Cotton Mill district, marrying Mrs. Maude Kuhn, October 22.
He was found in the city park after he had visited friends, paid some bills and had a talk with Jerome McKinney at the telephone company in connection with making application for the soldiers' home.  He was said to have gone to the park to await opening of the Legion building after dinner.
He is survived by his wife and parents; three sons, Russel, Cydric, and Billie of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; three stepsons, Thurman Kuhn, Arnold Kuhn, and Delbert Kuhn, all of Denison; one daughter, Miss Juanita Feimster of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; three brother, Willie and Tison of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and Paul Feimster of Oklona, Arkansas; and one sister, Mrs. Byrd Johnson of Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Short-Murray chapel, Rev. J.F. Murrell, Baptist pastor, officiating.  Interment will be made at Oakwood Cemetery.  Short-Murray funeral directors in charge.
