The Denison Press Friday, July 22, 1949 pg. 3 Ezra Joe Canafax, 73, of Carpenter's Bluff, died Tuesday morning after two months' illness. Mr. Canafax, a retired farmer, was born in Weatherford, Texas, April 23, 1876, the son of Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Canafax. He was educated in Ardmore, Oklahoma schools and was married in Ardmore to Miss Grace Ferguson. He was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors are his widow; three sons, Floyd of Denison; Bendel and Leo of Seattle, Washington; four daughters, Mrs. Jean Stevenson of Stockton, California; Misses Dorothy and Cleo of Denison; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were in charge of Bratcher-Moore with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. The Denison Press Friday, November 28, 1958 pg. 3 Funeral services for Mrs. Gracie Canafax, 78, of Route 1, Denison, were held at Johnson-Moore chapel. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Canafax died at a local hospital Saturday, November 22. She had lived in Denison for fifteen years. She was born in Kentucky, August 6, 1880, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fregerson. She attended Marshall school, near Willis, Oklahoma, and was married in Ardmore, Oklahoma, August 4, 1896, to Joe Canafax, a farmer, who died in 1949. She was a Baptist. Survivors are four sons, Floyd and Cleo of Denison; Ben and Leo Canafax of Seattle, Washington; three daughters, Mrs. Francis Baker, Denison; Mrs. Jean McConnell, Los Angeles, California; and Mrs. Dorothy Collier, Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
