York 27 April 1868 (Cooperstown, Illinois) - 24 June 1944 Sherman Democrat July 30, 1935 Page 9 DENISON - Mrs. Elizabeth York, 67, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday at the family home 1 mile south of Denison on highway 75 after an illness of five days. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Short-Murray chapel with the Rev. Gerald Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood cemetery. Mrs. York was born Dec. 29, 1867, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Simonson of Troy, Kansas. She was married to George De France in Troy and later married to Romeo R. York December 28, 1893 and came to Sherman a year later. In 1895 she moved to the Indian Territory and then to Kansas where she lived several years before coming to Denison. The surviving relatives are her husband, Romero R. York; a son, George De France of Mena, Ariz. and a brother, Otto Simonson of Idaho. Sherman Democrat June 26, 1944 Page 8 Romeo R. York, 76, died Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at his home near Sherman following an illness of one week. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin York, he was born April 28, 1868 in Brown county, Illinois, moving as a child to settle near Sherman where he attended the Sherman public schools and was engaged in farming until his retirement several years ago. He was married December 28, 1893 to Mrs. Libbie De France in Troy, Kansas. York is survived by a step-son, George De France of Denison; brothers, Pete York and Brick York, and a sister, Mrs. Dolly Joplin of Mena, Ark. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Short-Murray Chapel in Denison with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
