Riggs 1927 - 1955 The Denison Press Tuesday, March 8, 1938 pg. 1 CALVIN BIGGS [sic], 64, DIES HERE; ILL 6 MONTHS Calvin Biggs, 64-year-old laborer, who came to Denison from Marietta, Oklahoma, died Monday at 7:10 p.m. at his home on route 1, east of the city following an illness of six months. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery with Short-Murray, funeral directors, in charge. Biggs was born August 12, 1873 at Knoxville, Tennessee, where he was reared and educated, later enlisting in the army. He came to Texas when a young man, residing at Whitewright and taking up farming there for a number of years. He moved to Sherman and ten years ago came to Denison, later leaving for Arizona. He came back to Denison and established residence with a daughter. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bessie T. Lively of Denison and Mrs. Nellie Huffman of Los Angeles; three sons, Melvin, Willie and C.W. Riggs, all of Denison. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
