The Denison Press Wednesday, October 2, 1935 pg. 1 SHOOTS SELF AFTER SENDING WIFE ON ERRAND Ill LongTime Buck Creason, Dead From Gunshot Wound Over the Heart; Tragedy Occurs at 9:45 A.M. Wednesday Despondent over ill health, W.M. (Buck) Creason, 53-year-old Denison trucker, shot and killed himself at 9:45 Wednesday morning at his home, 1930 South Houston Avenue. Creason had been in ill health for several years, frequently complaining from heart and stomach trouble. Judge E.A. Wright returned a verdict of "death from gunshot wound, self-inflicted." The suicide came as a surprise to his wife and daughter who said that Creason had remarked how good he felt when the family arose early this morning. His daughter left home to report to her work at the Patterson Manufacturing plant at 7:15, two hours before the tragedy occurred. Walking out to the barn behind the home, the trucker shot himself just above the heart with a 16-gauge pump shotgun, found beside the body. He was killed instantly by the charge. WIFE FINDS BODY Shortly before the shooting, Creason asked his wife to go to a neighbor's and get some magazines, as he felt like reading. The shooting occurred while his wife was absent. Returning home with the magazines, Mrs. Creason called to her husband and received no response. Seeing the drawer open where he kept his shells and a search for his shotgun failed to locate it, Mrs. Creason ran from the house to a neighboring residence screaming. A search for Mr. Creason located the body a few minutes later. An inquiry of the neighborhood by the officers revealed that the fatal shot was not heard. Mrs. Creason said that she knew her husband was despondent over the condition of his health, butshe did not expect the tragic ending this morning. He seemed to be in better spirits today than anytime since he has been confined at home the past several weeks. Mr. Creason was well known in Denison, having been in the trucking business here for many years. The suicide came as a surprise to his friends.
