HARRIES DIES AT FANNIN AVENUE HOME John Franklin Harris, 77, who made his home at 315 N. Fannin avenue, died at 4:35 Friday afternoon following an illness of five days. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. P.H. McPhail, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood with the Denison Funeral Home directing. Mr. Harris was born in Smith County, Virginia, March 3, 1863, his parents being J.C. and Pheby Harris. His schooling was received in that county and on June 27, 1888 he was married to Miss Rebecca Hess of Lee County, Virginia. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are four sons, Thos. of Virginia, John of Tennessee, and Millard and Herbert of this city. Daughters are Mrs. Lily Schulas of Virginia, and Mrs. Rosa Moore of California. Also thirty-three grandchildren. The Denison Press Monday, April 8, 1940 pg. 1 Herbert T. Harris, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert O. Harris, died at a local hospital Saturday night at 11:50 following an illness of three days. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. W.V. McPhail, pastor, officiating. Interment was at Oakwood with Short-Murray directing. Surviving are the parents, a sister, Wanda Faye, and grandfather, Joe Harris, of Denison, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Stapleton of this city. Millard James Harris 3 May 1912 - 18 October 1951 The Denison Press Friday, October 26, 1951 pg. 5 Funeral services for Millard James (Slim) Harris, 39, who died in a local hospital Thursday morning, October 18, were held at the Funderburk chapel Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. W.J. Beall, pastor of the Southside Baptist church, officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery with Funderburk funeral home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Harris had resided in Denison for twelve years. His home is at 315 N. Fannin. He was employed as carpet mechanic. He was born in Lee County, Virginia, May 3, 1912, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Harris. He attended school in Tennessee and was married in Pulaski, Tennessee, June 19, 1929 to Pauline Seagroves. They lived in Tennessee before coming to Denison. He was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include his widow, two sons and three daughters, all of Denison, Millard Franklin, Richard Paul, Mattie Mae, Louise and Nancy Ann; three brothers, Thomas Harris, Gulfield, Virginia; John Harris, Tennessee; and Herbert Harris, Breckenridge, Kentucky; and two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Shuler, Pennington Gap, Virginia; and Mrs. Rosie Moore, Baldwin Park, California.
