Swanson, 58, master machinist at the Denison Cotton Mill since 1925, died at a local hospital early Thursday afternoon following a short illness. He had been a resident of Denison since 1904. Deceased was born November 1, 1878 at Dalton, Georgia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Swanson, where he was reared and educated. He came to Texas and Saltillo at the age of 21 where he farmed with his father, later moving to Greenville and Bonham to work as a machinist. He entered the service of the Katy railroad in 1919, later accepting the position with the Cotton Mill. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows lodge. He married Miss Nina Petty. Surviving are his widow; father; one son, Roy of Fort Worth; two daughters, Dorothy Swanson and Ruth Swanson of Denison; one grandson, Neil Swanson Fort Worth; two brothers, Homer of Jacksboro, Texas; and G.W. of Paris; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Berry, Westbrook, Texas; and Mrs. Horace Terndon, of Juanita, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday from Sunny Side Baptist Church, with interment at Oakwood, Short-Murray directing. Pall bearers were J.N. Hollingsworth, H.G. Edmiston, Sam Hoskins, T.C. Lamb, Floyd Spadlin, and F.W. Wright.
