Phil Emswiler, a bartender by profession, went by the morphine route last night.  Early in the night he entered Kunz Bros. saloon, called for a glass of water, into which he pured the fatal drug.  In a short time there was a physical collapse and 2 physicians were called in, but the young man was beyond all medical aid and died about 9:30 o'clock.  The cause of the suicide seems to have been some trouble that occurred to Emswiler earlier in the day.  He had been working at the Bell Top saloon for a short time, but for some cause was discharged yesterday.  About supper time he and his father visited the shooting gallery on Main street.  While there the young man had an altercation with a man over a shot.  All parties adjourned to  the street and the attention of the officers was drawn to it.  On being arrested a revolver was found on the deceased.  Bail was furnished and he was not locked up.  A few minutes after his release he purchased the morphine and within a few minutes had taken a large dose as above stated.
