Dallas Morning News 5 October 1947 (Special to The News) Denison, Texas, Oct. 4 - Funeral services were held Saturday for Henry Clay Shaver, 66, retired Denison nurseryman, who died at his home after an illness of several years. Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on July 24, 1875, he came to Texas as a small boy and settled near Pilot Grove with his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Jesse Shaver. He had lived in Denison forty-two years. Shaver married Miss Rena Ashenhurst in Sulphur Springs in 1900. He was a member of the Baptist Church and of the Woodmen of the World. He was employed at the Munson Nursery for a number of years before his retirement. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. W.H. McLain, Denison; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Denison Press Friday, July 20, 1956 pg. 4 Funeral services were held Sunday, July 15, for Serena H. Shaver, 78, of the Hyde Park community. Services were conducted by Rev. Vernon Price with Bratcher-Moore in charge and burial in Oakwood cemetery. Mrs. Shaver died in a local hospital after several years illness. She was born in Albany, Kentucky and received her education in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She was married December 16, 1900 and was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. W.H. McLain, of Denison; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Fred Lueb, Mrs. B.L. Kidd, both of Denison; and Mrs. K.E. Flynn of Faxon, Oklahoma. Mrs. S haver also had 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
