Petry Woods 17 July 1880 - 2 January 1955 The Denison Press Friday, February 19, 1954 pg. 6 Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Bratcher-Moore chapel for William Chamberlain Woods, 79, who died at his home, 213 E. Day, Sunday after two months of illness. Rev. E.L. Potter and Rev. H.F. Crews officiated and interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Woods had been a resident of Denison for 30 years. He was born in Greenville, Tennessee, July 16, 1874, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Woods. He was first married to Maudie Hogan, who died in 1906. In 1917 he married Ida Petry in Oil City, Louisiana. He formerly worked for the Katy railroad. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by his widow; four sons, O.S. Woods of Brownsville; W.R. Woods of Ft. Worth; J.B. Woods of Nashville, Tennessee; and A.M. Woods of Dallas; two brothers, Sidney Woods and Jessie Woods, both of Denison; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Morrison, Los Angeles; Mrs. Betty Myers, Ft. Worth; and Mrs. Eula Adams, Bonham; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The Denison Press Friday, January 7, 1955 pg. 5 Funeral services for Mrs. W.C. Woods, 74, of 131 E. Munson, were held at Bratcher-Moore chapel Tuesday afternoon with Rev. H.F. Crews and Rev. Earnest L. Potter officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Woods died at her home Sunday morning after two weeks of illness. She was born in Henry, Louisiana July 17, 1880 and was married April 28, 1917 in Oil City, Louisiana, to W.C. Woods. She resided in Forgan, Oklahoma before coming to Denison 20 years ago. She was a member of the Nazarene church. Survivors include three sons, J.B. Woods of Nashville; Orien Woods, Dallas; and A.M. Woods, Irving; two brothers, Earnest Petray and Buddy Petray, Crowley, Louisiana; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Hoffnuir and Miss Edna Petray, Crowley, Louisiana; 9 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
