Denison Section 11
The Sunday Gazetteer October 8, 1905 pg. 4 Mrs. J.F. Prickett Dead Mrs. J.F. Prickett, who has been an invalid for several years, died Wednesday at her home on East Morgan street. She had been a terrible sufferer, the affection being confined to her face and head. Thousands of dollars have been expended by her faithful husband for professional services, but without avail. Mrs. Pickett was one of the pioneer women of Texas. For a number of years she resided east four miles with her husband on a farm. The writer had the pleasure of meeting the deceased frequently. She belonged to the old school of southern women. Her hospitality was unbounded and when you were received at the farm house there was a welcome that went with it that made you feel at home. Mrs. Prickett and her husband moved to Denison from the farm twelve years ago. Then disease which carried her off began to manifest itself. Rest was needed and Mr. Prickett being a man of ample means, it was decided to make Denison their future home. For years she has been a patient sufferer, her loyal and devoted husband always administering to her every want. The death of his faithful consort will be a terrible blow to the husband. Mrs. Prickett has a great many country friends who will deeply deplore her death. Her Denison neighbors were very much attached to her. At the time of her death, she was 73 years and three months of age. She was born in Indiana, close to the town of Marion. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom survive her. Of her children, Mrs. Sarah Campbell was with her at the time of death. Vest Prickett arrived and was present at his mother's funeral. She had been married fifty-three years next month. The interment was at Oakwood cemetery and a large number were present to pay the last respects. One of the very best mothers and wives who has ever lived in Denison has passed away. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
